Repairs to refrigerated containers, there were two of these but I'm terrible at taking photos of my work.

Effectively these things aren't particularly well designed so the lip to floor welds and run on tabs failed completely.

To repair this we welded in aluminum rhs members to re attach the floor to a more structurally stable member then fabricated a steel ramp to distribute the load more evenly.
Cracked welds were also fixed(not shown in photos, I know!)

The steel plate was fixed using rivets in counter sunk holes because otherwise sliding pallets trash them.

It wasn't pretty but it held, life can't always be stack of coin welds, sometimes it just has to do its job. This cast iron header split right down the middle, cracks v'd with a die grinder, then a pre heat followed by welding with nickel electrodes and a nice slow cool down.

It's been fitted back onto a car and drive a round trip to Adelaide with no issues. Be

This one's nice and hefty, made from 4mm mild steel plate so it should see many a bbq.

Dear mechanics plumbers and other assorted trades, the next time something metal breaks, please don't try to fix it with epoxy putty or I'll have to charge you for sand blasting!

Here we have an automotive casting in aluminum alloy, nice and dirty and bearing the tell tale marks of an attempted cheap and nasty repair.

This is being sent to a machine shop so it's crucial to ensure an adequate build up when welding.

I generally try to keep the heat input limited on these repairs to avoid weakening the casting, especially when dealing with mystery metals.

Shout out to wolf tools for their 16mm clamps i butchered to make some cheap fixturing table clamps.

I've never seen these before in any workshop, would definitely recommend with some modifications.

It's an ingeniously simple design and hard to beat for moving heavy equipment on a budget.

A blast from the past and by that I mean 2020, this trailer had a fully rusted out and snapped a frame, how it didn't fail on the way there is a miracle.

This one was a case of adding stiffening plates and re building the front end as it was GONE. I also welded on the new suspension(not pictured as I'm terrible at remembering to take photos)

Thankfully we don't build them like we used to for the most part.

Vintage caravan owners take note, most of them are held together with wishful thinking and the metallurgical equivalent of craft cheese slices.

Check it before it wrecks itself!
